Chemistry: Chapter 9 (textbook) Essays: In the Process of being Evaluated and Corrected

Chapter 9 is one consisting of all theory thus our teacher gave us two options of how to approach this chapter. The first is doing a small exam on chapter 9 or write short essays on specific topics taken from the chapter. In choosing either of these made that this chapter would be removed from our final exam and be worth 5% of our final mark. We chose to write the essays.

Chemistry: Test 6

This is the latest test which covers the chapter 10 and 11. For the chapter 9 was tested differently.Chapter 9 we had to write multiple short essays of the topics taken the chapter. This test, of chapter 10-11, consisted of an equal share of concepts and numericals. Examples include the definition/differences of Strong and Weak acids, the distinguishing properties of Gasses as well as their kinetic molecular theory, and a lot more.

Chemistry: Test 5

The fifth test was of chapter 8. A chapter of theory such as Hydration, Hydrogen Bonding, The relationship between temperature and the solubility of Gases, etc... The chapter also consisted numericals, mainly one principle equation, C1V1=C2V2. The chapter centred around the concept of  Concentration (of a solution).

Chemistry: 2nd Presentation: Titration

Mark: 95%

Comments:
Dani your Second Presentation on Titration was more structured and timed as compared to the
first one which shows that you learned from your mistakes. You answered all the questions with confidence
which showed your depth of knowledge regarding the subject. There is always space for improvement and
hopefully. You will upgrade and enhance your capabilities in future presentations.

Chemistry: Test 4

Going from a 72% to a 94% is a very impressive leap, for me. Particularly if the test consisted of only numericals. I am also glad that this test also covered chapter 5, a bit like a retake of ch.5. Thus the previous test of 72% is not worth as much.  This test was also the largest test given so far since it covered all the mathematical concepts of chapter 5 to 7. Questions could consist of determining the empirical as well as the molecular formula, the mass percentage of a specific element in a compound or of the entire compound, determine the limiting reactant, determine the moles needed of an element or compound to react with different one(s).

Chemistry: 1rst Presentation: Fiberglass/GRPs

Mark: 85%

Comments:
"It was a nice presentation on Glass Re-enforced Polymers, you explained well GRP and its uses.
You focused on the given task and handled the question well enough.
The only thing to improve is that the production process of GRP was not explained properly."

Chemistry: Test 3

The third text I did not fair too well since it consisted mainly of numericals. This test focused on the begining sections of chapter 5.

Chemistry: Test 2

The second test mainly consisted of the 4 chapter. A chapter filled with the numerous applications of chemistry in the industrial world. This includes Gold and Cyanide Leaching, spill treatments, the different uses of magnesium, much more. The concept which was not of industrial applications of chemistry was the section explaining Double and Single Displacements; which were included within the test through the demand of examples of such chemical reactions.

Periodic Table

To help us remember the Periodic Table, as well as having a visual source easily accessible, our teacher asked us to create a large version of the Periodic Table. We divided the work load between the three students. I completed what is to the right of the window as Emma did the left, and Saif did the top. I am grateful that it is there since it's very easy to simply turn your head and search for the element needed. It also helped memorizing having needed to write out certain elements.

Chemistry: Test 1

The first test was of the first 3 chapters of our textbook. These chapters included the structure of an element as well as the different methods of displaying it (Lewis Diagrams, Rutherford's Diagrams, etc...). They also included many concepts such as Electronegativity, Electron Affinity, Ionic and Covalent Bonds, and much more. My mark, was of 85%, which is not bad for the first test of the semester.
