Art: Gesso for Time Painting

My art teacher is sick today, but she left us our itinerary. The first thing on the list is to complete our three sketch drafts. The second activity is to gesso three white sheets. With my three sketch drafts somewhat complete, I was able to gesso. I was instructed to tape down three, stretched-flat, white sheets; and gesso them. These three gessoed sheets will be used for our studies. By studies, I mean three new drafts; three new painted drafts. Which leads to the third instruction of beginning to sketch out and paint our three new drafts on the dried gessoed sheets. The photo is of my drying gessoed sheets. I had taped them stretched-out so when gessoed they would not wrinkle, but I guess I didn't do a good enough job for the middle one is quite wrinkled. I guess I'll have to see if, when dry, they won't be as wrinkled since the gesso will have settled-in.

My art teacher is home sick today and left us instructions for the day. The first instruction is to complete our first three sketch drafts. In step 4 you would have seen my first sketch draft. The photo in this post is my second sketch draft with each of the frames' colour pallet.

Art: Self Portrait 1

The first set assignment was a self portrait. There were no specific rules or regulations, just that we needed to be able to explain the piece orally and through our first artist statement. Most of my colleagues decided to draw, but I felt as if I could express myself better through words, photos, citations, names, etc...

Dream Room: Final Text & Poster Board

In English class, to practise description writing techniques we read short descriptive stories. With examples in mind, our teacher assigned us to write a descriptive text. The theme chosen, by the teacher, was Your Dream Room. Each of us were to write of Dream Room.

When the day came that our Dream Room descriptions were due, we were told to share them out loud. This began the second step. The second step was correcting by ourselves our text. Reading out loud helped many of us to detect and correct the majority of our mistakes. Sharing our descriptions also allowed us think of ideas we'd like to incorporate into our Dream Room.

With the second copy completed, then came the third step. We were to correct our descriptions again. Although, this time we were to correct our text with the help of our teacher. One by one we each sat down with our teacher and corrected our text for the second or third time. This produced our third and final copy. From the final copy we were then to creatively depict our Dream Room on a poster board.

Art: Brainstorm continuation - Rough sketching & colourpallet for Time Painting

With ideas in mind and examples to refer to, I now needed to draw a draft/outline of the six concepts I am using to represent Time. Thus the empty boxes on my brainstorming sheet are now filled with my rough sketches of how each saying will be represented. I also had the time to establish a basic colour pallet for each saying. The following picture is of the updated version of my brainstorm for my Time painting.
